Note:

This website is not meant to be a detailed, step-by-step, log of my build process. There are hundred's of very complete RV-7 builder's logs already published on the net.

This log is simply a place for me to post a select few pics with simple explanations of what I am doing so that family and friends can follow my progress.

  About My Vans RV-7A:

This is the builder's log for my third airplane project - a Van's RV-7A. I purchased this airplane kit because I wanted a fast airplane to use for my personal travels.

I have very specific goals for this RV-7A. First of all, I will build every part of this airplane just like I did for my RANS S-10 and S-6S. A lot of RV builders simply rivet their airframes together but then pay someone else to build the panel, paint the plane, and do various other tasks. That's cheating in my book!

I'm all for asking for help though and there is a great online builder's community at RivetBangers.com.

I will design, install, and wire my own instrument panel. I will paint my airplane, and I will make the interior.

This RV-7A will be light weight, simple, and fast.

I plan on installing a 180 horsepower O-360 and a fixed pitch prop and a 'low end' glass panel.

I am building the nose-gear version of the RV-7 (called the RV-7A)  because I like the looks of the nose wheel better!
